This board is loosely based on the Twilight book saga. Though we are using information from the books, we are also adding our own. The RP takes place in a different town with our own characters.

General background knowledge needed:

The Rp is beginning in the year 2008. Two years ago in 2006, the small town of Raventree Hollow experienced a rash of attacks on its people. These people were killed by a wandering group of vampires that passed through the town, though the police say it was bizarre animal attacks.
The appearance of vampires in the town caused those with the werewolf gene to become 'activated'. These people phased into giant wolves. Their soul purpose is to protect the town from any other vampires unless some should arrive which do not feed on human blood, in which case a treaty will be formed between the wolves and the vampires.

Werewolf Information:

Werewolves in the Twilight universe do not age, as long as they regularly phase into wolves. They heal quickly, have enhanced physical speed and strength, and can communicate telepathically with each other while in their wolf forms. They tend to be incredibly tall as humans, standing at least 6ft3, and well-muscled. . Their body temperature is warmer than a human's; it reaches about 108.9 °F, which allows them to withstand very cold weather. As humans, they usually tend to go topless and wear cut off jeans or shorts since clothing gets ruined during the transformation. Most of them keep a bit of leather cord tied around their hips or thigh muscle so that they can undress first, secure the pants to themselves, and thus carry their clothes with them while in wolf form so that they may redress when they get to their destination and phase back again. They can phase into wolves at will, not being bound to the moon cycle. Once they begin phasing, a werewolf may "imprint"– a method of finding one's soul-mate– and act as a close family member, best friend, and/or protector until the imprintee is old enough to be their lover. The werewolf has no choice over who it imprints on or how it feels about that person once imprinted. While the imprintee has a choice, their decision is almost guaranteed due to the amount of devotion the imprinter shows. Werewolves have a hierarchy inside their pack. The alpha male is the leader and has a second in command that takes over if the alpha needs him to or tells him to for certain occasions. If the alpha or second give a direct order, the pack members find themselves physically incapable of disobeying it. The alpha's orders will always override the second's.

The size of the wolf form: From a distance, the wolves have been mistaken for over sized grizzly bears by hikers.

Vampire Information:

In Twilight, vampires deviate from traditional views in many ways, a fact often alluded to in the series, usually for humorous purposes. Meyer has said she did not research vampire mythology before writing the series. For example, they are not harmed by garlic, holy items, or wooden stakes; they have reflections, and are capable of coming out during the day. Vampires are also capable of eating human food, though their bodies are unable to digest it and they must cough it up later. They do not have to breathe, but typically find it uncomfortable to be without a sense of smell.

All vampires possess supernatural beauty, allowing them to lure in prey. Their skin is flawless and has the texture and feel of marble; in direct sunlight, it sparkles. Newborn vampires have bright red eyes, though they fade to a deeper crimson over the course of a year. If a vampire chooses to drink human blood, the most revitalizing kind of blood for a vampire, then their eyes will be deep crimson. If they feed on animal blood, like the Cullens, their eyes are golden in color. Regardless of meal preference, all vampires' eyes grow darker with thirst, eventually fading to black, and they only tire from lack of blood. All vampires are described as having incredible superhuman strength, with the ability to uproot trees, throw cars, and crush metal. Newborns are known to be exceptionally strong during their first year of being vampires because of the excessive amount of human blood in their systems. Vampires have very keen senses and are able to see and hear clearly for miles and move with such speed that they become a blur to human eyes. They are immortal, and very difficult to destroy, only permanently killed when dismembered and then burned, as their body parts continue to move even after being detached. Vampires are not able to sleep, and thus spend all days and nights awake. After the transformation from human to vampire, a certain ability is enhanced, sometimes resulting in a special ability. While not definite, the theory behind special abilities is that the power is reminiscent of the individual's original personality. Some vampires have no special abilities, and instead have a prominent personality or physical trait from their human life magnified. Vampires change a human by biting them since their teeth are coated in a special venom which infects the victim. Often, the vampire loses control at the taste of the human blood and ends up killing the person rather than turning them. If a vampire can resist eating the person it bit, it takes three days for the person to change.

Witches Information:

The witches on this board are not the wand waving, pointy hat wearing, Harry Potter types. They are more the tradition pagan/wiccan etc witches from real life though they have been embellished some here to be more fantastical (think of the tv series Charmed or Willow on Buffy). After their 21st birthdays, our witches age a lot more slowly than normal humans.

If you would like to play a vampire, please state in your character introduction whether you are a human blood drinking vampire or an animal blood drinker. We don't want lots of the dangerous kind running around loose and the animal drinkers will have to abide by the treaty with the werewolves (which simply states they will have a truce unless the vampire bites a human..at which time the truce is broken and the werewolves will hunt them down and tear them limb from limb).
Also, if you would like to be a werewolf from town, post your character introduction and wait for Jonas or Aiden to respond to it before you start playing. Jonas is the alpha male in Raventree and Aiden is his second in command. They will tell you what your position in the pack will be. If you would like to be a werewolf from out of town, you must agree to respect the fact that Jonas and Aiden have command over you while you're visiting.
If you would like to be a witch, post your character introduction and wait for Una to respond to you. We don't want a lot of witches crowding the tiny village either..
